Summary
-
Lincoln Electric is seeking a Packaging Engineer for our Euclid, OH
headquarters. The Packaging Engineer plays a vital role in the
Consumable Division by spearheading innovative packaging solutions
that enhance product quality, drive cost efficiency, and support
operational excellence.

What You Will Do:
-
Packaging Design Optimization: Identify and implement improvements
in packaging designs to enhance quality performance while reducing
costs. Ensure all designs are optimized for efficient manufacturing
processes.
Supplier Collaboration: Forge strong partnerships with packaging
suppliers, driving them to deliver creative, cost-effective
solutions. Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support
to logistics teams as needed.
Quality Standards Establishment: Develop and enforce supplier
quality standards, create incoming inspection plans, and support
supplier audits to maintain high-quality packaging materials.
Training and Development: Design and deliver training programs for
personnel involved in packaging activities, ensuring adherence to
best practices and quality standards.
Equipment Commissioning: Actively participate in the commissioning
of new packaging equipment, ensuring seamless integration into
existing processes.
Process Development: Develop standardized practices and processes
aimed at achieving zero defects, maximizing productivity, and
ensuring compliance with local and international legal and
regulatory requirements.
Documentation and Specifications: Create and maintain comprehensive
specifications and documentation related to packaging design,
testing, and validation.
ISO Support: Support the implementation of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
methodologies to enhance organizational quality and environmental
management systems.
Procedural Compliance: Review, understand, and adhere to
departmental procedures that govern job performance, ensuring
consistent quality and efficiency.
Innovation Champion: Actively seek out and develop new packaging
concepts, formats, materials, and technologies to foster innovation
within the organization.
Project Management: Create detailed project plans and organize
resources to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of
packaging projects.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participate in product introduction
teams to strategically deploy new packaging advancements, ensuring
alignment with overall product goals.
Testing and Validation: Plan, organize, and conduct packaging,
production, and shipping tests and validations in accordance with
ISTA, ANSI, and ISO standards.
Capital Expenditure Justification: Prepare and justify capital
expenditures for new packaging processes and equipment to support
continuous improvement initiatives.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and perform
additional duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager,
supporting Lincoln Electric's strategic objectives and the 2025
Higher Standard Strategy.

Required Experience & Education
-
Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,
or comparable field of study.
Minimum of three years of relevant industry experience.
Strong understanding of ISTA, ANSI, and ISO test methods and their
implications for packaging design is preferred. Familiarity with
manufacturing processes such as corrugate, injection molding, and
films is advantageous.
Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and structured
problem-solving methodologies utilizing Lean and Six Sigma
tools.
Ability to work effectively on the shop floor, collaborating
cross-functionally and performing hands-on tasks as needed.
Proficient in 3D modeling software and knowledgeable in MS Office
applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with SAP is a
plus.
Willingness to travel between Lincoln subsidiaries and suppliers as
necessary.
