We are seeking a highly skilled Metallurgist to join our team in Dearborn, MI. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and developing new materials and processes for our company.

Responsibility:

To work with Kenwal employees, customers and suppliers on material related quality issues at the direction of the Corporate Quality Manager.

Essential Functions/Resource Provision:

Investigate material related customer claims.


Determine and advise customers on disposition of material


Perform new part reviews on work awarded to Kenwal.


Teach metallurgy classes to Kenwal employees and Kenwal customers


Supplemental Functions:

1. Perform Grid Analysis

2. Advise on formability issues with customers

3. Advise the Purchasing department on sourcing and grade requirements for items supplied by Kenwal.

Cross Area Competencies:

1. Perform the duties of Quality Manager when needed.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Metallurgical, Bachelor of Science, material science and engineering, or similar degree


Extensive Steel Mill experience.


Must be able to deal effectively with customers, internal employees and others on an ongoing basis.


Must consistently operate with high integrity, confidentiality, and honesty.


Must have excellent communication skills.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of customer processes - Dies, Formability of metals


Computer skills as necessary


Understanding of chemical reaction with steel
